Edward L.Bolender Memorial Scholarship

Edward L.Bolender Memorial Scholarship

Edward Bolender was a professor at Superior State School, known today as University of Wisconsin-Superior. He was very passionate about his work and often encouraged students toward science education and fields of medicine. After his unexpected passing, a group of his previous students and colleagues got together to form a memorial fund in his name.

Among the numerous personal donations received to go towards the fund, there was a special donation from the Douglas County Medical Society in cooperation with the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The two teamed up to conduct a county-wide oral polio vaccination program and raised $3,000 for the scholarship to help students in the health and/or natural sciences professions.
