Ellen Clark History Scholarship

Ellen Clark was Dean of Women and adviser to many groups on campus during her years at Superior State Teachers College in the 1910s through 1940s. An excerpt from the 1914 Gitche Gumee regarding Ms. Clark: “Miss Clark came to us last September to fill the place in the History Department vacated by Miss Milam. Her intense interest in her subject and the enthusiasm with which she handles it are a source of inspiration to all her students.”
Paul Holden established the scholarship in Ms. Clark’s name in 1965, and was a generous supporter of the university.

Scholarship criteria: For students majoring in history, preferably incoming freshmen.
