Ernest Feidler Scholarship

The Ernest Feidler Scholarship was established to honor the 1930 alumnus, who was instrumental in the UW-Superior Foundation’s early success. After graduating from Superior State Teachers College, where he was very active on campus, Ernest went on to teach history and American government and earned a law degree from UW-Madison in 1934. His career highlights included the appointment as Administrator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and Secretary, Treasurer and General Counsel of the National Gallery.

Ernest also had a meritorious military record, serving during WWII and the Korean War, and rising to the rank of Rear Admiral in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He passed away in September of 1976.
