Jim Dan Hill

Dr. Jim Dan Hill was president of the University of Wisconsin-Superior from 1931 to 1964. Upon his retirement, a scholarship was establish in his name and later the Jim Dan Hill Library was named in his honor. Dr. Hill served as a U.S Army officer in both World War I and II, was a member of the National Guard from 1923 to 1956, and eventually retired as a Major-General. Besides being well known for his service to his country, he was a notable author and had several works published. After his 30 years of dedication to the university and military service, he moved to Abilene, Texas. There he wrote book reviews for the city’s newspaper, and served as president of the West Texas Historical Association.
