Johnson Open Scholarship
The Johnson Open Scholarship Fund was established to assist Native American UW-Superior students with their education. The funds for the scholarship were generated from the annual Johnson Open Golf Tournament, lead by UW-Superior faculty member Gary W. Johnson.
Nationally, of the Native students that do go to college, only 3% graduate, with finances one of the biggest reasons for dropping out. UW-Superior maintains the highest percentage and highest retention rate of Native American students of any UW-System school.
Scholarship criteria: For a full-time junior or senior student with Native American ethnicity. Applicants must also submit an essay on how to help Native American people.
