Minnesota Power, an ALLETE Company

Minnesota Power, a division of ALLETE, provides electricity in a 26,000 square-mile electric service territory located in northeastern Minnesota. Minnesota Power supplies retail electric service to 144,000 retail customers and wholesale electric service to 16 municipalities. It generates and buys power generated from a variety of sources, including coal, gas, biomass, and wind in locations from North Dakota to Lake Superior’s North Shore.

Minnesota Power’s transmission and distribution components include over 8,500 miles of lines and over 150 substations. Its transmission network is interconnected with the transmission grid to promote reliability and is part of a alrger regional transmission organization called the Midwest Independent System Operator.
