Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship

Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship

The Oluf Haugsrud scholarship was established in 1975. Oluf “Ole” Haugsrud was born in Superior in 1900, and went on to organize the Duluth Eskimos – a professional football team. He was passionate about sports, especially football, and was also instrumental in the start of the Minnesota Vikings franchise in 1961. Ole passed away in 1976 and, after his wife Margaret passed away in 1998, the scholarship fund grew with an estate gift.
