The Moodie Family

The Moodie Family

Since the 1949 founding, Judge Moodie and his wife, Mrs. Norrie Moodie, supported the Foundation and UW-Superior until their passing in 1990 and 1995.

Judge Moodie earned a degree from UW-Superior in 1936, was a veteran of foreign wars, and became an area judge. He was one of the 1949 founding members of the UW-Superior Foundation, and he held a position on the Board of Directors from then until his passing. Mrs. Moodie was also a graduate from UW-Superior and held an education career, first as a first grade teacher and then as a special education teacher for the School District of Superior. Mrs. Moodie was a charter member of the former Douglas County Association for Retarded Citizens, and a member of the Douglas County Mental Health Association, the board of directors of the Polinsky Rehabilitation Center, the Douglas County 51.42 board, the Superior Area Retired Teachers Association, Superior Garden Club, and the Cathedral of Christ the King.

After Judge Moodie’s passing his children established a scholarship fund in his name. After Mrs. Moodie passed they added her to the fund’s name to memorialize their parents. The Moodie family continues to support UW-Superior students and honor the memory of Judge and Mrs. Moodie.
