The Munson Family

Ben Munson grew up in the Amery, WI area. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 for four years, then in 1950 he put in two years with the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, Munson was employed by Brown and Bigelow Remembrance Advertising and was a member of the well-known Brown and Bigelow Male Chorus. He graduated from the Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis before beginning a long career in the broadcasting and newspaper fields. Munson was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church, the First Lutheran Senior Choir, and the Hayward American Legion Butler-Lindner Post No. 218 all in Hayward, WI.

Mr. Munson passed away in 1996 and was survived by his wife Juanita and their children. Juanita and their son John established the Ben L. Munson Memorial Scholarship at UW-Superior to remember Ben, and to encourage UW-Superior students interesting in pursuing a broadcasting career.
